Getting to know each other

We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking. We want to help make your first experience at Mont des Oliviers Church a great one!

SERVICE TIMES

Mont des Oliviers meets every weekend on Saturdays at 244 East Avenue in Norwalk, CT:

  • Sabbath School: Saturdays at 9:30am
  • Worship Service: Saturdays at 11:00am

What can I expect?

HOW LONG IS AN MDO SERVICE?

Sabbath School is the general equivalent of Sunday School and offers an intimate, small group setting to learn what the Bible says, discuss the Bible with others and hear different points of view regarding questions posed in the study guide, the Sabbath School Quarterly. The first half of Sabbath School consists of singing, prayer, and learning about how Adventists around the world are helping and serving others and helping others choose Jesus in their lives. The second part of Sabbath School we have one of our Sabbath School teachers review this week's lesson from the Sabbath School quarterly. Sabbath School is about 60 minutes in length.

Our worship service is about 2 hours in length. The first hour is a mix of worship through singing (the song lyrics will be on our screens) and giving, reading scripture, and prayer. In the second hour, one of our elders or our pastor will share an encouraging and hope-filled message about Jesus.

WHERE CAN I PARK?

You can park in our parking lot in front of the church. However, the parking lot will most likely be full by around 10:00am. If it is, you can park on the street.

WHAT'S THE CULTURE LIKE AT MDO?

Our church is a Haitian church so our service is primarily in Haitian Creole and French. However some English is spoken throughout the service and interpretation can be given by someone in our church. Our service is inspiring yet formal. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.

WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?

We believe that kids should have a great time learning about Jesus. Every Saturday, during Sabbath School, kids will learn about biblical stories that teach them about the Bible. You can simply drop your kid off downstairs in the cafeteria. We also have "Children's Corner", a part of the service when kids go to the front of the sanctuary to hear another biblical story. All of these are offered for kids ages 0 to 9. For kids 10 and up, we offer Sabbath School classes for them as well.

On select Sabbaths, after service and our fellowship meal (which we have every Sabbath after the worship service), we hold Adventurer Club meetings for kids in grades 1-4 and Pathfinder Club meetings for kids in grades 5 and up. The Adventurer Club and Pathfinder Club is the Adventist equivalent of Cub Scouts and a co-ed version of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, respectively. For more information on the Adventurer Club, click here. For more information on the Pathfinder Club, click here.

This place embodies the word JOY. Christian fellowship at it's best. People are happy and very warm. It is a Haitian church but it welcomes everyone and the message is always one of power and hope. These types of churches are the ones keeping the true gospel alive.
